Best Friends

Friendship.  That word alone says so much.

It's not only an amazing word, but an asset.  Something as valuable as a friendship should never be taken for granted on any levels, instead it should be cherished.  It's truly hard to find someone who you can fully trust not only with your heart and soul but your life as well.  Someone that will be there for you through thick and thin.  Someone to tell your secrets to, to confide your worries to, and to give you the best advice.

Many friendships start out as young children, they grow and blossom over the years.  Many start as we are older and understand our needs more.  Very few friendships can endure a lifetime.  As we grow older and our lives begin to change, so do our friends. As our lives take different paths, our friends do also, making hard to sustain a healthy relationship with each other.

Friendship is one thing but having a best friend is something entirely different.  This is a person whom is more like family, a person to share your inner self with, a person that will keep you rounded and give the utmost attention when needed.  A best friend is not taken lightly, one must earn that right.  It's a relationship built on trust, not acquaintance.  It doesn't matter where you come from or who you know that qualifies someone as a best friend.  It's having the other person's best interest at heart, sharing the same feelings for one another, and never having to say it.

Best friends and friendships are like rare gems, when you find them, polish them, nurture them, and keep them safe.  Life is too short to spend it alone, so I urge you to get out there and find yours.
