When You Care to Much

There's nothing wrong with caring for others but when it starts to effect your personal happiness there's a problem.

I naturally expect people to care for one another but unfortunately it doesn't always happen that way. In my personal experience I have learned that others only care about themselves. They have a personal agenda all the time. If it's not about them then they have no time for anything. It's very sad.

I would hate to say that we care to much. Is there such a thing? I think so. I think it's possible to care about others more than yourself. This poses a problem for that individual. Their very own happiness is at stake. They feel trapped in a world of feeling used instead of being helpful or loved.

Why can't people just appreciate what you do or how you feel? What a sad world we live in when you feel like you care to much.

Best Friends

Friendship.  That word alone says so much.

It's not only an amazing word, but an asset.  Something as valuable as a friendship should never be taken for granted on any levels, instead it should be cherished.  It's truly hard to find someone who you can fully trust not only with your heart and soul but your life as well.  Someone that will be there for you through thick and thin.  Someone to tell your secrets to, to confide your worries to, and to give you the best advice.

Many friendships start out as young children, they grow and blossom over the years.  Many start as we are older and understand our needs more.  Very few friendships can endure a lifetime.  As we grow older and our lives begin to change, so do our friends. As our lives take different paths, our friends do also, making hard to sustain a healthy relationship with each other.

Friendship is one thing but having a best friend is something entirely different.  This is a person whom is more like family, a person to share your inner self with, a person that will keep you rounded and give the utmost attention when needed.  A best friend is not taken lightly, one must earn that right.  It's a relationship built on trust, not acquaintance.  It doesn't matter where you come from or who you know that qualifies someone as a best friend.  It's having the other person's best interest at heart, sharing the same feelings for one another, and never having to say it.

Best friends and friendships are like rare gems, when you find them, polish them, nurture them, and keep them safe.  Life is too short to spend it alone, so I urge you to get out there and find yours.

Black Friday Sales

Every year people are ready to dump the turkey and run.  Question is, "Are the sales worth it?".  Their are many different opinions on this out there.

In my opinion, it really depends on what you are looking for in deals.  If you are like most, you are wanting great deals on tv's.  From what I've seen over the years, this is the best time to snatch one up for a great price.  Toys come in second, especially video games.  Clothes, however I don't really think that is something I would rush out the door for.

How can you decide if it's a good deal?  Well here's a few things to take into consideration:  discount price+quantity+gas money+distance

If it cost you the same in all these combined, it's not worth your time.  Especially to go and fight a HUGE crowd.  You'd be better off to shop on-line or wait til the big day is over.

Whatever you do, please make it a fun and safe experience.

Community Generousity

So this church came to my apartments to help with thanksgiving dinner, Suzanne White Roberts, the boys and I walked over to the community center, there was singing and it was a really cool little set up. I got a 16lb turkey, stuffing, corn, green beans, mashed potatoes and a red velvet cake mix with butter cream icing. Also, they did a raffle and I won a $15 gift card to Frischs. Feeling pretty blessed today. I think the boys and I may be going to church in the morning. :)

What a great thing communities do for their own. I was there to witness the testimony of God, grace, and humanity.

I have never been a part of something like this before. It was wonderful to see people go out of their way, that don't have to, to make sure others have a wonderful holiday. Just seeing this makes my Thanksgiving more meaningful.  I am so thankful for these kind people for seeing that people in need have a wonderful dinner.

The young lady that shared this story to social media is a recovering addict.  I have seen her go from deaths door to tears of graciousness in a record amount of time.  She may not be rich in monetary means but she is rich with the blessings God has in store for her.  She has turned her life around, got custody of her two beautiful boys back and works a full time job.  She doesn't own a car, when need be she will walk those boys to daycare,(where she has to cut through the woods on a trail due to location and no sidewalks), so she can catch a bus to get to work.  If that isn't determination, I don't know what is. I am proud to call her my daughter. So to see people come and give her hope is something I am truly thankful for.

I know we would like to believe that poverty in our great nation doesn't exist, but it does.  Please keep this in mind, if there is anything you can do for anyone, please do.  You will be truly rewarded in ways you can't imagine.

News Media

As many of you know news media is everywhere.  You can't turn on the television, radio, or any other device without seeing or hearing everything that's going on.  I don't know about you but quite frankly I am sick of it.

I am so tired of hearing things that are absolutely not necessary.  I don't care that these crazy people want their 2 minutes of fame.  They don't even want the standard 15 minutes anymore as long as they can get attention.  Come on media, give us a break.  Tell us the important things and quit giving these people ammo to keep doing stupid stuff.

If they would turn the cameras off and ignore half the things people are doing they would stop.  Just like a child throwing a tantrum.  If you ignore them and don't give them unnecessary attention, they eventually stop throwing them.  They simply know it's not working.  So why not treat the news the same.

Report what's happening and move on. Don't keep feeding these people.  When others see all the attention spawning from other ignorant people, they feel compelled to do whatever they want.  This is because of all the hype the news crews bring.  Haven't we had enough of this?

You know, we could just all turn the news off.  Quit letting them feed us such garbage.  If they really want to report something, report good doings.  Let's see if that would spread like the bad does. I'm all for it.  The world could use a little good news, some uniting, and some peace.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for what's happening around us.  I'm just tired of all the other crap.

When Love Turns to Hate

What exactly makes someone's love turn into hatred?  What must someone do to make you feel that way? The answers are not always clear but if I had to guess I would say it's probably the way the other person treats you.

You can't possibly love someone that treats you like total crap because eventually it will take a toll on the relationship.  Love has to thrive like everything else, it has to be nurtured and maintained.  If one half or both don't do that, it will fail.

Kindness, respect, trust, and faith in one another has to be a given.  You can't lie, cheat, and abuse each other.  It simply doesn't work.  After a while, it becomes clear that the one lying, cheating, and abusing simply doesn't care.  How unfortunate for them.  To have someone love you should mean the world to you.  Love doesn't come easy, in fact, it's hard to truly put yourself out there for someone to love you in the first place.  So why would someone ultimately destroy that?

People today think that love is a game.  They tell people what they want to hear instead of being honest.  Honesty in a relationship is key, it's the most valuable asset you can have.  If you have a partner that can't trust you, you have nothing.  The sad part is, someone is going to end up alone. Not because they want to but because they can't continue to live that life anymore.  It becomes overwhelming to try to decipher the truth all the time.

What about abuse?  Mental/physical, it doesn't matter.  It's uncalled for.  It only brings sorrow, scars, and hate.  Why would anyone want someone to hate them?  If you ever feel the need to abuse someone, leave them first.  I'm sure many would rather have a broken heart than a world of scars.

Respect?  It goes along with everything else.  You want it, give it.  It's that simple.  People can't respect liars, cheaters, and abusers.

Those Crazy Apps

As if it isn't bad enough we put our poor little ones through tons of pictures, we now have the ability to make them look anyway we want.

Got to admit some of them are cute and some are just down right silly. Let's be honest, there are apps for everything these days.  Games, music, photo editor, and social media are just a few of the top ones.  Almost everything is at our disposal by just clicking a button.

Times sure have changed.  When I was younger, we didn't even know what an app was.  Hell we didn't have cell phones and tablets either.  It's crazy, that's for sure.  I just wonder what is in store for the next generation.  Problem is, I'll be to old to figure it out or care.

Senior Pictures

Where in the world has time gone?  You never really realize just how much your children have grown until the last one brings home his senior pictures.

When they are just mere infants, it's pictures galore.  You just can't get enough of those little smiles, chubby cheeks, and those wonderful facial expressions.  Then as time goes by, the pictures start to fade to a minimum because the little cute things, aren't so cute anymore and let's face it, they don't want your camera in their face.

Then one day out of the blue, before you know it, the senior picture arrives.  Just when you thought all emotions were under control, you realize your baby is all grown up.  Let the flood gates open, because the whirlwind of emotions you are starting to feel are getting carried away. There is this young man standing before you that you once held in your arms like it was yesterday.  That sweet innocent little boy that loved to cuddle his mommy is no longer.  How can this be?

However, you now know, that this handsome young man before you with pictures in hand has done very well.  The question you must ask now is, "What will the next set of pictures reveal?"  You've done your job so let's hope for President.

Butting Heads

What is it about our children?  Seems like the older they get the more you butt heads.  They think they are always right and find anyway possible to try to prove you wrong on all counts.

Little do they know, they did not create the rules to life.  They like to think they did but the joke is on them. They are not the first to break those rules either.  Kids have been doing whatever they can get by with for generations.  They think that if they sneak and do something without getting caught they have won the battle. Trouble is, there is no battle.

The only victory is that they see they are accountable for everything they do.  Life is all about consequences, paying the price for what is ultimately right. Unfortunately, not all kids understand this. They aren't taught that.  In today's society, there are no consequences.  How terrible is that?  Kids running rampant until they are forced to grow up.

Bad thing, where does that leave their children? Their future?  I pray everyday that all the head butting I have done over the years pays off and my children understand that life is what you make it.  Not what you can get by with.

It's Cold

Well the weather is getting colder, goodbye summer.  As much as I love to have beautiful sunshine and hot summer days, I also enjoy those cold crisp days.  There's nothing like staying in your pjs snuggled with a warm blanket and cup of coffee (hot chocolate in my case) with a good book.

You never get to many days like that so take advantage of them if you can.  Find the warmth from deep within you and you will also have a sense of peace.  The kind of peace that only you can bring yourself.  When you do that, you feel the warmth like never before.  It will overtake you and then bring on a moment of reflection of all good in your life. Everybody needs to feel that way at some time or another.

So the next time its cold out and you are rushing to get home and get warm by the fire, remember to grab your favorite warm beverage and cozy blanket.  Your tranquility is awaiting you.

Christmas Lights

The Christmas lights

With their beautiful glare

So bold and bright

They fill the air

What can I say

Red and green

They take your breath away

With their festive scene

The children stop to stare

While the adults look on amazed

As they emit their flare

And leave everyone dazed

The Christmas lights

Come in different colors

Even in whites

To please our mothers

Beauty the are

To all those around

You can see them afar

Even from the ground

The Leaves Fall

Remember playing in the leaves
They would stick to our sleeves
We would run around
As they fell to the ground

They were crisp to the touch
Oh how I miss it so much
Just to be young again
And have another spin

To watch them twirl in the wind
As if it would never end
Then to rake up a heap
So we could take a leap

It was so much fun
To give it run
To dive right in
Was almost a sin

When we were done
Down would come the sun
Only to have more leaves fall
It was autumn after all

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is a time to get together with your loved ones (friends and family) and give thanks.

Be thankful for all the blessings God has created for you. Don't take for granted that your friends and family will always be there. Take the opportunity while you have it to tell them how much they mean to you.

Also be thankful for the "little things" like hugs, smiles, and "thank yous". They don't come around very often either. People get to busy to say or do these things.

Be thankful for what you have. Many people don't have beds, homes, cars, or family. It's extremely nice to be able to lie in a comfy bed at night instead of a bench somewhere.

Please take Thanksgiving and tell all those you care about how thankful you are to have them.

Election Day

Election Day is here at last
Better make up your mind fast
Vote for the best
Forget about the rest

If they aren't fighting for the same issues
Grab your tissues
Cause it will be a long ride
If they're not on your side

They had a debate
To decide their fate
Some may cry foul
But it's up to you now

Now take note
It's time to vote
Express your voice
Make the right choice

Daily Prompt: Second Thoughts

via

I've tried to write this twice
So I guess I should take my own advice
If it's that hard to choose
You just might lose

There's always another choice
So use your best voice
To decide what is best
And forget about the rest

Nothing in life comes with ease
So pick whatever you please
It's up to you to elect
Or whether you reject

This is what I know
Never just go with the flow
Cause it's a very sore sight
When it comes back to bite

Things I find Irksome

Things that bother me most
Are things like burnt toast
And peanut butter without jelly
to fill my belly

Teens that are rude
Or even crude
Kids that don't mind
Who need a swat on the behind

Clean laundry all over the floor
Makes me refuse to do more
Dirty dishes all over the house
Enough to attract a mouse

People that turn you into a spy
Cause all they know how to do is lie
They turn you into a sleuth
Just to find the truth

I could go on and on you see
of things that irk me
But you probably don't have all day
To hear what I have to say

Things that I find Irksome

Things that bother me most
Are things like burnt toast
And peanut butter without jelly
to fill my belly

Teens that are rude
Or even crude
Kids that don't mind
Who need a swat on the behind

Clean laundry all over the floor
Makes me refuse to do more
Dirty dishes all over the house
Enough to attract a mouse

People that turn you into a spy
Cause all they know how to do is lie
They turn you into a sleuth
Just to find the truth

I could go on and on you see
of things that irk me
But you probably don't have all day
To hear what I have to say

Camouflage

What is it about Camo? It's everywhere! What's all the rage about this apparel?

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with it and it makes a great look for people that live in the country.  However, it does seem a bit funny to see city people wear it.  I guess that goes without saying that I'm making a biased opinion.  In my defense though, city people don't go hunting.

On that note, a whole lot of people that wear it don't hunt.  Teens seem to love it.  Families even dress their children in it.  So what is it about Camo?  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think this would be a trending fashion but yet it's taking the nation by storm.

I guess if you are into the country/hunting look, go for it.  Let's face it, a nice pair of jeans, boots, and a good camo hoodie are all the rave and it doesn't look bad either.

Future Possibilites

As a young child you play pretend.  In pretend land you can be anyone or anything you want to be.  That's the fun of it all.  Nothing is there to stand in your way, life realities simply don't exist.

From the time you can remember people were always asking you, "What do you wanna be when you grow up?".  Of course your answers probably changed with time.  Unless you absolutely were born knowing exactly what you wanted to do or become.  That's not the case for most people unfortunately.  The struggle is real. What do I want to do?  Where do I see myself in 20 years?  Answers are sometimes hard to come by.  I mean after all the possibilities are endless.

Hell, in pretend land you could be the plane, not the pilot.  Everything seems so simple when we are young and full of imagination. But the reality is, you can't be a plane so what are you going to do. The joy of being little and pretending is that you can start to explore what interests you and hopefully help you answer these questions.

Never stop a child from playing or pretending. It's molding their future, their minds, and their ability to make decisions.  Decisions that one day may change their lives.

Lies

What makes a person lie? Is it a fear of telling the truth? How can some people just lie about everything? I mean the simpliest little things that shouldn't matter are lied about all the time.

I don't for the life of me get it. If you truly believe that lies don't hurt, you are wrong. Especially if they come from a habitual liar.  It's hard to identify the truth from some made up nonsense from people who have a hard time distinguishing the difference. Some lie so much that they actually believe what they are saying. They truly convince themselves.

I can understand not wanting to hurt someone's feelings so you tell a little white lie. I mean does this really need to be? Ok so the truth may hurt but wouldn't you rather have it, honestly?  After all, the truth may not hurt as much as you think. Especially if it's helping someone.

Society today doesn't seem to care whether they hurt people or not. So if this is the case, just tell the truth.  If you don't want to go out, don't go. If you don't want to talk to me, don't answer the phone. If you don't to be with someone, then leave. Just don't sit there and lie about why you didn't do what you should have.

Lying is very hurtful. The pain of knowing you don't deserve to have someone's loyalty and trust just sucks. It just shows you don't care. So if you
absolutely need to lie, think about it first. Think about how much you don't need to do it.

Overwhelmed

Life can be really hard sometimes, never knowing which way to turn. So many things going on at the same time. You gotta do this and that, and it just never seems to end.  Why can't things be simple?  Why do other people feel the need to bombard you with their lives and problems? Like you don't have enough of your own to deal with.

It's funny because when you are young, everything seemed so easy. I'm sure that's because your parents were to busy being overwhelmed. Then again, life seemed simpler back then. Things have changed a lot over the years. Life is so fast paced and nobody stops to breathe.

Wouldn't it be nice if people showed some respect? Now days, that just doesn't happen. They don't care about you or what's happening in your life, as long as you are doing for them. There is no such thing as inconvenience either. To hell with what you got going on, you aren't important. Their needs are far more greater.  I mean, come on now, can't you just stop your life?  Afterall, your life is meaningless compared to theirs.

You know what? All those "needy" people who can't seem to get how important you are, the ones overwhelming you, seem to forget......they need YOU! Funny huh? They take you for granted and use you up like a roll of toilet paper. They never stop to realize without you, they are lost. Where would they be without you?

It's really ashame the way people treat each other. I can only hope and pray that they find themselves before they get overwhelmed by someone else. But karma has a way of coming back. Then and only then, will they see the light.

Full House

You always think when you are raising your kids that someday they will grow up and leave home. What in the world are you going to do with yourself?  You will have free time and your house will stay clean. Yeah right!

In this generation, most kids don't leave right away. If they do, they come back quicker than they left. Oh and did I mention, they bring back more than they left with. Whether it be just stuff, animals, or kids. Yes, I said it, kids. They move back with an entire family.

Talk about a full house! As if the humans are bad enough, you get their pets. Dogs, cats, and lizards to name a few. I'm talking animal kingdom. Hell we could start a petting zoo.

Then there's the grandbabies. The crying, the messes, the upteen loads of laundry, and the stinky diapers all come with them. God love them, it's a good thing they are cute.  How can this be? You raised yours. It's not suppose to be like this!!

Then there's that quiet moment. Awww....the sweet sound of nothing. No tv, no music, no fighting, no crying, just silence. It's absolutely heavenly.  Just when you hope it never ends, here they all come.  I suppose I wouldn't really know what to do with myself if it ever ended.

A full house sometimes isn't that bad. It's better than not having them at all. Just think of all that I would miss. I'm not saying they should live here forever, just glad they are a part of my life.

Themed Parties

I always enjoy going to parties. It's a time to simply get together with friends or loved ones and have a good time. It's always enjoyable to get to catch up and see how everyone has been.

What's even better is a party with a theme. The cool decorations and food are the best. It adds a special effect to the entire venue when you see how good everything looks and comes together.

I'm talking from experience when I say it's a lot of hard work and very time consuming. Nonetheless, it's always worth it when it all works out. Not to mention when you are complimented on how well everything looks. It's rather quite uplifting to your soul.

I especially love when the kids see it. They get so excited. The happiest kid makes the happiest party planner. Smiles all around. Those are the best EVER!

So next time you plan a party, think about a theme your little one is interestd in and go for it!  It is so totally worth it. You just might be rewarded with a special extra hug😀.

Finally at Peace

Finally at Peace I watched as you lay Each day I'd pray For God to keep you But he knew Each day you desired But yet you were...
